If
you have been around Morgantown long enough to remember
La Casa on Pleasant Street, then you've most likely had
the experience of abandoning the standard ground beef burrito
at various taco stands, to La Casa's "shredded" beef burrito!
It
was that very simple, yet unique concept, that made me a
La Casa fan years ago. Now after standing firm essentially
initiating the renaissance of the Wharf District, La Casa
represents a unique flavor to Morgantown dining and culture.
Standing
next to the Rail-Trail, this Mexican eatery will soon be
surrounded by new activity in the heart of the Wharf District.
The restaurant features an authenticity, to include the
building in which it resides. Built in 1904 by local resident
Russ Kincaid's great-grandfather John C. Kincaid, La Casa's
long time tradition thrives in this historical building
once home to Mr. Kincaid's Feed and Grain Company.
Although
my "usual" is the classic shredded beef burrito, La Casa
features an excellent variety of authentic Mexican food
along with your favorite legal beverages. Service is always
attentive and well beyond satisfactory. When the weather
is good, La Casa also features a large deck in which diners
can take in the scenery to include the Monongahela River
and the Rail Trail.
While
living in California, my dentist asked me where I was from,
and when I said Morgantown, West Virginia, he replied, "ever
been to La Casa?" Of course I later learned that he was
a friend of La Casa's owner, Kendall Amick, but it just
reminded me of one of the things I was missing about Morgantown!
La Casa is an excellent restaurant.
